I like the sound better though (with some EQ to lift the mids and dial down the highs and high mids a bit), but I still don't know if I'm going to keep or return them. After only 20 days of light use And sometimes they creak when wearing and slight movement of head/jaw. and the headband also started to creak when stretched to put on. They always improve in some areas and step back in others, otherwise there would be nothing to "improve" in the next iteration. They should have been angled with more space in the back like the Bose or Huawei Studio. The cups are technically bigger (by 10% they say) but I don't know where that went, because they actually feel smaller around the ear, they are indeed a bit deeper but that goes away when the pads compress when wearing and then they begin to touch the sides of my ears on the top-back. The headband padding is thicker but harder. I also find the comfort of XM4 a step down from XM3. You won't have some H1 specific features like head tracking, iCloud pairing audio announcements but general bluetooth pairing/device switching work fine. If anything I find the multipoint switching between my MacBook Pro and iPhone to be better then with my AirPod Pros. I personally find its not the most comfortable and only use them with glasses for a hour at a time.ħ) Yes. I find the pads flattening on my ears annoy me more then heat.Ħ) Depends. I imagine everyones tolerance will vary though I can get through a few hours of work with no real issues. I do think my AirPod Pros sound better but the noise canceling and battery on the XM4 is better.ĥ) Yes. FWIW I ended upped returning one of my open box XM4 to Amazon as the ANC circuit would make a crackling sound after several hours.ģ) I don't find it noticeably different then my AirPods Pro when using it with my MacBook Pro or iPhoneĤ) I find it to be good enough when EQed. I ended opting for Amazon over Ebay as I found Amazon Warehouse ratings were quite a bit more conservation and returns were no hassle.Ģ) Based off what I've read its about as bad as buying NIB. Do the WH-1000XM4 work nicely with my Apple devices?Ĭlick to expand.1) If the price is low enough and the returns are easy. Does it cause ears to get hot when wearing these?ħ. Is the WH-1000XM good for movies and listening to music (I read that a lot of people don't like the sound quality from the WH-1000XM regardless of using Android or iOS, and other sources)?ĥ. Is there audio delay with these headphones when watching movies from Apple TV 4k or Mac, or iPhone 12?Ĥ. Are the any issues with with Certified refurbished Sony headphones? It seems a lot of people are returning the WH-1000XM4's.ģ. Is a certified refurbished WH-1000XM4 really a good buy from ebay?Ģ. Apple MacBook Air with the M1 processorġ. I may get the 2nd Gen AirPod Max if Apple remedies the flaws from their current APM.ġ. I really feel that the APP is a better suited for me for portability. I was thinking about getting the WF-1000XM4's but decided not too. I recently bought the AirPods Pro since I'm in the Apple ecosystem, they are currently on sale, and bought the Comply AirPods foam tips 2.0. I also tried out the AirPods Max and returned them because of condensation, it was uncomfortable to wear for an hour or more to due to being heavy on my head that caused me neck strain for a few days, and it's still over priced. The second time would be a certified refurbished one. The first one I bought at Best Buy had audio dropouts. So it makes sense that they might doubt the amount of users using it ANC off and figured not allowing it start off unless you disable ANC, makes sure its stands out with any user unless they specifically go to that trouble.I'm thinking of buying the Sony WH-1000XM4 for a second time, but this time from ebay. Its basically at this point a primary function and not just feature to Sony. But its got like the second or third longest ANC runtime, with what's considered the top one or two in ANC. Maybe it is, maybe everyone wants its ANC off to start. I am usually reluctant to say something is a bad design just because its not the use case I would want to use. What you could probably try doing is using the location based settings to set your house and where you use it most as one with ANC off. Its probably a choice they made based on testing and a desire to make sure the experience is universal at the start. What you have that set as, that is how the headset starts up. You can't set audio profiles, like lets say Jabra that it can remember between attempts.
